Ministry Partners:

Purposeful Africa is serious about people of faith getting involved in Africa and we are actively recruiting to that end. To assist in that effort, we have joined Finishers Project where thousands of people have expressed an interest in serving in missions. Finishers Project is a place for people to match their passion and preferences for serving God with scores of ministry organizations. We anticipate that many people will join Purposeful Africa to be involved in sharing the hope we have in Jesus with the people of the nations in which we will serve.

The FINISHERS PROJECT is a service organization designed to provide information and pathways for people to become engaged in missions – either on a short-term basis or as a second-half career.

Finishers Project originated out of the local church to stand in the gap between evangelicals in the pew and sending organizations. It is not a sending agency, but provides the service of bringing people and organizations together. It is a safe place for people to explore real opportunities in missions. It is still true after 2000 years that the harvest is plentiful and the laborers are few.

Colossians 3:23-24 (NIV)

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.

Examples of Past and Possible Partnership Efforts

  • A small ministry with a heart for the Ethiopian people took a group of 20 to see the home of the Ark of the Covenant. The group visited a bare bones orphanage; they decided to help. They bought food, clothing, beds, and blankets for the children. Two couples decided to adopt children! Once back from the trip, the group continued to share their passion for the Ethiopian community. Their church is now planning their third trip to help the orphans. This small group of people who took action and became involved in this ministry has taken 400 homeless orphans off the street and placed them into shelter and care.
  • A large church desired to minister to their neighborhood youth. The pastor took 26 people on a Living Passages private cruise. We took care of meals, meetings, and logistics, so the pastor and his wife could spend time with his congregation. At the end of the journey he shared his goal to minister to their neighborhood youth. He received donations (built into cost of trip); plus an additional $200,000 which was later donated by the same cruise participants.
  • A very well televised teacher desires to teach on one of the Purposeful Africa cruise segments. Their church can promote the cruise and bring 75 people or more to take the segment from Morocco to Gambia. Each person pays from $3,999 to $9,999 for the cruise (based on how much they choose to donate and the type of cabin they select). The donation may be designated to their church or to a specific ministry in Africa of their choice. On their Africa segment, they visit a port and can choose to visit mission sites, engage in actual missions work, or go on another destination tour.
  • A large scale church takes 500 people on a similar cruise to another destination. Inside that cruise fare are 33 free spots—for them to use for staff or others—or around $150,000 that they can put toward a specific ministry (or a combination, according to church goals). Ministry goals might include building a new church in Africa, building an orphanage, or providing small business loans or training for impoverished peoples.

Encourage your church or ministry to use a Purposeful Africa trip segment as an event opportunity to enhance your group’s vision and ministry. You will enjoy the fellowship and have the trip of a lifetime!
